Why Commander?

Let me explain what is wrong with current smartphones: they are all made for the same thing: watching videos, listening to music and consuming media. Well, they are good at that, but unfortunately there are a lot of us who want more and something that leans more towards better usability in different kind of tasks. Actually, we, the advanced users, have been waiting for a device that brings us functionality, usability, speed, modifiability and intelligence way beyond today's flat "one button" phone models. The market for powerful, advanced smartphones has been empty for a decade so there's a huge pressure to fill that void.

After mid-2000s there have been literally no smartphones that house the same functionality as the Commander will be packed with. I want to make it real because it is needed by the the huge number of power users - reporters, real estate brokers, programmers, students, business people, office workers, people who travel a lot in their work, geeks, tech savvy persons, people who want to use their phone for more than watching cat videos on YouTube etc. Business people have had to settle for iPhones and other non-business-oriented phones, which is a real tragedy. I want to make a change for that.

That's why we need Commander.

This device is my dream. Hopefully it will be your dream as well because I want you to know that you don't have to settle for one screen, one button and one frustrating experience with today's phones. While today's smartphones are made of plump buttons and big areas on the screen, Commander explodes all of them to little pieces and lets YOU in control. You decide what's best for you. Commander is not soft. It is not thin and shiny whiteness either: its soul is brushed steel dressed up in a high-ranking naval officer's suit. It certainly knows what to do. It is the best and the only real smartphone.

I want to present 9 basic, concrete problem examples so you know what I am talking about and why Commander needs to be made.

Problem 1:
You write text and your spelling is horrible because you can't feel the keyboard.

Solution.
Commander. It comes with a nice keyboard with tactile feedback you've been waiting for. It's time to stop the nonsense and write your emails, social media posts and messages incredibly fast, effectively and correct.

-------

Problem 2:
You try to copy and paste text and you are about to go insane because it's mind-blowingly cumbersome.

Solution:
Commander. You control the text with the keyboard so copying is as simple as painting the text with familiar Shift + arrow, and copying is as easy as pressing CTRL + C. No more of those ridiculous, hair-greying long presses.

-------

Problem 3:
Calendar in your current device is made of simplicity because of the finger-control method the device uses. Adding and setting up meetings and appointments on the calendar feels very frustrating.

Solution:
You guessed it: Commander. Commander's calendar brings back the magnificent functionality of the best business phones on the planet, the Communicators. For example, the standard month view is divided in two sections: the actual calendar and a list of appointments for the day, with times, places and everything.

-------

Problem 4:
You want to make a grocery list on your phone, or want to write something down. After a while you decide to use pen and paper.

Solution:
Commander. Commander houses one specific button which makes everything faster than you've ever seen. You just press a button on the keyboard and you have a note on the screen, just waiting to be written on. You might shed a tear because it's so simple and effective.

-------

Problem 5:
The device's screen has to be protected all the time.

Solution:
That's right. But with Commander you don't have to worry about that. When not in use, the device's screen is protected well inside the secure clamshell design. What could break it there?

-------

Problem 6:
File management is a task you don't want to do because it's really annoying. What happened to decent file managers anyway?

Solution:
Commander! The device has a built-in file manager which does all the tasks with such a speed and ease of use that you just love it.

-------

Problem 7:
Writing or editing an Excel document is just a no-no.

Solution:
Commander indeed. It houses a BUILT-IN text editor and sheet/ word processors with MS Word/Excel import/export functionalities. And the QWERTY keyboard makes writing fun!

-------

Problem 8:
Watching videos is awkward because there's no back support for the device.

Solution:
Just look at Commander. Isn't it just MADE for enjoyable video watching experience?

-------

Problem 9:
You have to take a photo, fast. Hurry!

Solution:
Well, the scene ended before you managed to fire up the camera app on your current phone. On Commander there's a button on the cover screen that takes a photo as fast as it's pressed. You just press it and there it is, the ultra-rare, quickly moving thing you saw is safely caught on camera!

One more thing: this form factor has always lured game developers like zombies towards a movie's protagonist because, well, a physical keyboard is 100 times better at gaming than an on-screen one will ever be. This is not the purpose of Commander, but it's a nice side effect. Who doesn't love games?
